 PADI Open Water Diver

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the most popular dive program in the world! This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure which requires only 2 to 3 days of training and never expires.

Prerequisites

Anybody 10 years or older, who is healthy and reasonably fit and feels comfortable in the water can participate in the Open Water Diver Course. You will need a swimsuit, a towel and sunscreen. For 10 and 11 year olds, either a private course or a minimum of 2 persons must be booked.

 

Course Schedule

 

 

Knowledge development

Your instructor will help you to improve your knowledge and answer all the questions you might have from your self-study. You will then need to correctly answer 75% of the 50 questions in the final exam (multiple choice) where most of Scuba-Fun’s students score 90+%.

 

Training in the swimming pool

Your instructor will explain and slowly demonstrate each and every skill for you and give you enough time to practice. We will also check if you are able to swim and feel comfortable in the water.

 

Training in open water

During your course you will participate in 4 open water training dives. The first dive does not include any formal skills and will help you to acclimatise to the new environment. During the 3 remaining dives you will apply the skills you have already mastered in the swimming pool to open water conditions, combined with a guided tour to explore Key Largo’s reefs. In addition to that you will learn about compass handling both at the surface and underwater. All of our open water dives are conducted on the dive boat.

Preparation

We will mail the book (included in the course fee) to you in advance so you can self-study to save precious vacation time. Or, you can take PADI eLearning, which means that after enrolling, PADI’s eLearning system presents you with interactive presentations that include videos, audio, graphics and reading. Short quizzes let you gauge your progress, and review and correct anything you might happen to miss. This lets you move through the program efficiently and at your own pace.

If you do not wish to take advantage of the self-study option, your instructor will teach you the materials on an the day prior to the course at an additional fee.
