Diving Divesites |
|
- The best dive sites in the Keys can be found in Key Largo, as this is where John Pennekamp State Park is located. Key Largo also has 4 great diving wrecks.
Dive boat trips are 2x daily, one 2-tank morning trip and one 2-tank afternoon trip. The dive boats come back in for lunch, so you will have time for a full lunch or at least a sandwich. Don't miss a wreck dive on the world-famous Spiegel Grove (~90 feet) and a beautiful reef dive (~30 feet)!- The reefs here are in very good shape (National Park) and mostly shallow (15 to 40 feet), so they are ideal for beginners and intermediate divers. We see big nurse sharks, reef sharks, eagle rays, turtles, goliath groupers, barracudas and uncountable varieties of colourful fish here.
The deep wrecks (Spiegel Grove, Duane, Bibb) are at a larger depth (75-100 feet), and they are sensational dive spots, as they have been specially prepared and secured for scuba diving. The Scuba-Fun crew keeps coming back from Spiegel Grove dives with guests who are so fascinated they are speechless
The Scuba-Fun dive groups consist of 4 people maximum, normally there are only 1-2 people in a "group".- And the divers spending the night in Key Largo will be welcomed by the Scuba-Fun crew to the local "nightlife" (sit on the patio on the water in the local bar, divetalk, decompression beer, great food). And we will set you up with a diver-friendly hotel or private accommodation.
The reef system of the Florida Keys is the third-largest living reef in the world and offers beautiful dive sites and exciting wrecks. From beginner to expert, all scuba lovers will find ideal sites. Key Largo is the best starting point for boat dives on the world famous reefs and wrecks.

Its fractured stern lies at a depth of 25 feet, while its bow points offshore at a depth of 45 feet. The bow section looms up out of the sand, in contrast with the rest of the ship which is almost wholly submerged.

- SPIEGEL GROVE

Experience Level: Advanced to Expert- This world-famous artificial reef was until recently the biggest wreck in the world sunk especially for divers. The wreck is upright and 510 feet long and 84 feet wide. - Our guest Oliver on the Duane
BIBB & DUANE
Depth Range: 50-130 feet
Experience Level: Advanced to Expert
Twin 327' coast guard cutters were painstakingly sunk in 1987 as part of an artificial reef program sponsored by the Keys Association of Dive Operators. The Duane, more frequently dived because of her depth, lies upright with a slight list to starboard at a depth of about 100 ft. The Bibb overturned while sinking and lies on her starboard side; you will begin to reach the ship's exterior at a depth of 95 ft. Both ships are a equally rewarding dive with a fascinating history.
